Nestled on a lovely hillside on the former A. C. Petersen dairy farm in Bloomfield, CT, with vistas in every direction, Seabury enjoys the perfect location. Surrounded by over 150 pastoral acres, yet convenient to so many points of interest, Seabury is located in the corridor between New York and Boston. Although located in a country setting, Seabury is just minutes from the major highways of Interstates 91 and 84, and Bradley International Airport is 10 minutes north off Route 91.
Rich Cultural Experiences...
With the centers of Hartford, West Hartford and the Farmington Valley just a short distance away, members of the Seabury community have the advantage of a rich cultural experience. The Connecticut Opera, Hartford Symphony, Hartford Stage, Wadsworth Atheneum, Bushnell Theater,
The Mark Twain House and Museum, Harriet Beecher Stowe Center, the New Britain Museum of Modern Art, the Talcott Mountain Music Festival, and many smaller artistic venues are some of the many attractions available to you. Further from Seabury, but still close enough to enjoy for an afternoon or evening outing, are musicals at the Goodspeed Opera House, the Longwharf Theater, the Oakdale Theater, the Peabody Museum, the Yale Museum of British Art, the Florence Griswold Museum, Mystic Seaport and the Mystic Aquarium. There are a myriad of attractions in Litchfield and the Berkshires west of Seabury; for example, the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge and Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
Shopping Galore...The Greater Hartford area provides a multitude of shopping in both malls and areas featuring numerous specialty shops. The area is filled with a rich variety of restaurants and is well known for both gourmet and casual fare.
Educational Opportunities...Educational opportunities are abundant with many colleges and prep schools in the immediate area. Seabury has many college level courses from which to choose, offered right on our campus. The Adult Learning Program (ALP), an affiliate of the Elderhostel and sponsored by the University of Connecticut, is hosted at Seabury as well as Senior Academy.
Sports Abound...Sports abound in the Greater Hartford Area, whether for spectator viewing or active participation. The University of Connecticut (UCONN) men's and women's basketball teams have a devoted following and have won several national championships, and the UCONN football team has been elevated to the Division I level. The Wolfpack hockey team of the American Hockey League plays at the Hartford Civic Center, and the International Skating Center in Simsbury is where Olympic stars are made. Whether you are looking for down hill or cross country skiing, tennis, golf, paddle tennis, hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, swimming or boating, there are a multitude of sports/recreational opportunities available.
Physical Activity & Fitness...Seabury has extensive walking trails and many nature preserves and parks are located nearby. A pool, spa, fitness center with strength and aerobic machines, fitness classroom and therapeutic massage suite are part of Seabury's "wellness for life" initiative.
Sightseeing...If you don't care to drive, trains, buses and planes are readily available for every kind of sightseeing opportunity. From Boston to New York, from the Connecticut shore to the lovely Rhode Island and Cape Cod shores, from the western hills of Connecticut and Massachusetts to the mountains of Vermont and New Hampshire and up to the rocky coast of Maine, New England shows its beauty through four seasons.
